11/16/2022 – EBE Technologies – Positive Revenue Growth in 2022

 November 16, 2022

EAST MOLINE, Ill., November 16th, 2022 – A record year of revenue growth has been achieved at EBE Technologies. The leader in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) enabled Solutions for the transportation industry has had an increase of 16% in revenue from new client acquisitions to 29% from existing clients.

COVID19 has affected a lot of workplace transitions and the ability to hire has declined. Entry level or clerical based positions have been especially challenging. EBE’s solutions allows transportation providers to automate repetitive tasks to compensate for the competitive labor market, and gain productivity from knowledge workers.

“This has been an unprecedented year related to talent acquisition. Our clients either cannot find candidates or spend their time coping with the ‘Hire, Train and Repeat’ turnover issues. The inability to hire creates added work for existing team members which can lead to job dissatisfaction, increase costs given at higher pay grade and performing lower skilled tasks.”

“EBE has (RPA) embedded in our SHIPS imaging and workflow solution for years. We have expanded the capabilities to interact with shippers and intermediaries’ websites to perform processing duties, claim assessorial expenses, document uploads, check payment status and provide cross-platform visibility to exceptions.”

“We have named our new RPA solution Emily. She performs her assigned tasks 24/7 hours a day and won’t be taking any time off. She provides a consistent, reliable job performance and improves job satisfaction of team members by minimizing involvement by performing repetitive tasks.”

“This year, EBE has expanded our product portfolio by adding modules to SHIPSMobile Content, including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), brokerage module and implemented SHIPS Applicant Recruiter and Compliance (ARC) system; automating the driver lifecycle processes including Risk Management Information System (RMIS),” Larry Kerr President of EBE Technologies explains.

EBE’s managed services Compliance Company; InfoStream added thousands of drivers into outsource service solutions which helps EBE clients supplement labor. Improving productivity and satisfaction is what we strive for at EBE Technologies. If you want to learn more about EBE and our solutions, please visit our website here.

EAST MOLINE, Ill., August 25, 2022 – Many carriers view the move away from EDI to web portals as a step backwards. Previously automated data exchange through EDI has become a manual process of entering data from a carrier’s TMS into a shipper’s web portal, which introduces data entry errors, time delays, and learning curves.

Enter Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

Hogan Transports utilizes EBE’s Website Management RPA to complete four tasks:

  • Shipment status updates
  • Shipment billing
  • EDI error correction
  • Carrier scorecard management

Ned Kriegshauser, Director of IT Business Support, discusses EBE’s impact on these tasks:

EBE’s Website Management RPA created a huge impact on cash flow management and labor savings.

Status updates are being performed in real-time, as is billing. Before, we were a week or two behind in billing, based on resources. Now we can check EDI invoices five days after they are sent and receive a list of any invoices that may have failed, correct them, and resubmit them within 10 days rather than 35 days. It also allows our team to monitor our scorecards and proactively correct any loads that may have a potential for a service failure.

By eliminating the hire, train and repeat cycle for the data input process, we have gained EDI insight that previously required checking each transaction manually, involving an enormous amount of labor.

Exceptions are presented to us in workflow, and our team focus is on the workflow.

Larry Kerr, EBE President, discusses Website Management RPA:

This solution, which we’ve branded "Emily", allows accounting teams to focus on accounting functions and not monitoring and updating multiple web portals. This boosts productivity and job satisfaction within the department. Better yet, Emily has never missed a day on the job or an assigned duty. In addition, Emily makes data and workflow updates from these websites available almost instantaneously and at a fraction of the cost of an FTE.

Website Management RPA keeps Hogan Transport’s cash flow moving forward, with payment exceptions being resolved in days vs. weeks, virtually eliminating payment barriers.

Hogan Transports Deploys Website Management RPA: A Huge Operational Impact

April 13, 2022

EAST MOLINE, Ill., April 13, 2022 – Through this integration, drivers receive both automated and ad-hoc messages created by dispatchers or billers through EBE’s Document Auditor module. The messages can be displayed in near real-time on a driver’s mobile communications device, eliminating the need for the driver to work within two applications. The messages are still available in EBE’s Mobile Messaging Center and provided in roll-up reports.

“The ability to provide mobile capture alerts to drivers on their Samsara device has greatly improved the driver experience. Without leaving their primary device, drivers will know which documents are missing or late. In addition, the process has minimized the ‘paper chase’ task performed by the operations team, which has had a positive impact across the board.”

-- Jess Siemers, General Manager of Wayne Transports, Inc.

“The integration with GLCS is the continuation of EBE’s commitment to invest in the driver experience through our ELD integration API. Through the API, leading ELD providers can seamlessly utilize EBE’s mobile capture and messaging as part of their workflow process. As GLCS continues to gain market share in the TMS interface market, the integration between our solutions was a natural step.”

-- Larry Kerr, President of EBE Technologies

“Seamless automation of driver workflow to include image capture with communication to and from the back office is a natural progression. This new integration takes us beyond how we typically see multiple solutions interact in this scenario a fast and lean package. This will eliminate wasteful time and streamline your image capture process.”

-- Nate Johnson, President of GLCS, Inc.

New feature will decrease billing time and limit driver data entry in ELD

EAST MOLINE, Ill., March 8, 2022 – Carriers can now process delivery document data in the billing and settlement process while minimizing the electronic logging device (ELD) trip data entry updates required by drivers.

Through mobile capture, documents are delivered within minutes of pickup or delivery, which is often quicker than driver manually entering the data into their ELDs. In addition, drivers often forget or “fat finger” data into their ELD, creating the need to audit and correct data in the billing system. Eliminating driver data entry will streamline back-office processing, improve the driver experience, and even possibly improve retention, thanks to the process workflow simplification.

The OCR function speeds up the billing and settlement process by replacing manual data entry. Through an intuitive interface, beginner-level staff can correct OCR data which will update the trip information in the dispatching system. This process eliminates the need for training high-skilled labor in the billing process and provides a larger labor pool to meet staffing requirements.

EBE Technologies, the leader in transportation enterprise software solutions, developed this feature to help carriers meet the changing needs of the industry.

“Shippers are demanding images, status updates immediately with a specified level of accuracy. To meet those requirements, carriers must implement solutions to accelerate traditional delivery and billing systems,” EBE President Larry Kerr said.

The mobile OCR solution is appealing to carriers given data entry occurs once in the verification process rather than twice in a traditional method processing, drivers, and billing staff. This function greatly reduces time and labor in the billing process.”

EBE says an early adopter of SHIPSMobile OCR is reporting billing an average of less than five minutes from delivery. In addition, their billing department has fewer team members, and their TMS skilled workers are focused on trips that have exceptions. Ultimately, the SHIPSMobile OCR has allowed them to lower costs, improve billing speed and accuracy, and decrease driver turnover.

New module provides real-time visibility to in-transit freight locations

EAST MOLINE, Ill., Jan. 11, 2022 – Outsourced freight tracking is the latest module added to EBE Technologies’ SHIPSMobile enterprise solution.

Outsourced freight tracking provides real-time visibility to carriers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers. Carriers use the dispatcher dashboard to review the load planning data, reject or accept loads, and assign trucks. The module then automatically updates the transportation management system (TMS) of the company offering the freight to receive status and check-calls.

“Outsourced freight tracking is another desired module for transportation companies wanting to consolidate partners.” said Larry Kerr, president of EBE Technologies. “It began as an outsourced asset tracking module for trucks in a carrier’s TMS that didn’t have mobile communications capability. Once we satisfied that need, outsourced freight tracking of brokered loads was the next logical evolution.”

Another benefit of outsourced freight tracking is removing manual data entry as the module incorporates EBE’s advanced document capture and optical character recognition functionality, which automatically imports delivery documents and updates data in real time within the TMS. Additionally, by using GPS, the module compares the pickup or delivery times and sends alerts to both the offering company and the carrier of a possible service failure.

“This automation provides better utilization of company resources and the ability to react quickly to exceptions,” Kerr said. “Our clients realize increased customer satisfaction by providing solutions that ease the worries of moving freight.”

2021

November 18, 2021

EAST MOLINE, Ill., Nov. 18, 2021 – EBE Technologies, the leader in business process management applications for the transportation industry, today announces the completion of its fiscal year 2021, ending September 30. An increased year of revenue growth was achieved as EBE realized a 14% increase in revenue from new client acquisitions and a 26% increase in additional purchases from existing clients.

“The challenges from the prior year have shifted, but challenges within the industry continue. The driver and general labor shortage, fuel and insurance costs, plus increased regulation and public perception are all causing downward pressure on the industry, said EBE President Larry Kerr. “I think practically everyone in the country is familiar with the term supply chain, for all the wrong reasons.

“Our clients are requiring they realize the maximum productivity from their current back-office team members.” To that end, EBE developed a Robotic Process Automation (RPO) solution, which integrates into existing Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Through RPO, routine tasks are automated, reducing a carrier’s back-office staff to focus on transactions AI has determined to be out of standard. Through the AI and RPO solutions, carriers have an electronic workforce managing documents and data that makes up the tasks performed by traditional staffing.

In first quarter, fiscal year 2022, EBE is releasing two additional modules for its SHIPSMobile Enterprise. These modules include Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which allows non-billing staff to perform data entry into a carrier’s billing system, allowing its billing staff to focus on out-of-standard transactions. OCR also offers freight tracking capabilities by enabling carriers and logistic providers to track outsources freight locations, interfaces to their TMS for status calls, and provides document capture.

EBE’s managed services compliance company, InfoStream, realized a 17% increase in drivers under its managed service and released its Risk Management Information System (RMIS) in fourth quarter, fiscal year 2021.

EBE is positive about fiscal year 2022. Based on the current industry challenges, carriers and logistic providers will have to implement AI & RPO solutions across their enterprise. The additional modules within the SHIPSMobile Enterprise solution opens additional market segments and the need to do more with less is driving demand from new and existing clients.

EBE Technologies Reports Increased Revenue Growth for FY2021

November 9, 2021

New function will save time and help reduce labor shortages facing carriers

EAST MOLINE, Ill., Nov. 9, 2021 – Carriers can respond to shippers’ requests more quickly and with fewer resources, thanks to an optical character recognition (OCR) feature recently added to EBE Technologies’ SHIPSMobile enterprise solution.

The OCR function speeds up the billing process by replacing manual data entry. Carrier office staff can review images for accuracy through a web-based verification portal and then insert them in the company’s transportation management system (TMS). A status check is conducted on required information, and if correct, the trip is invoiced. If a status exists that is not within standard, the trip is moved into an exception queue for review by a biller.

EBE Technologies, the leader in transportation enterprise software solutions, developed the feature to help carriers meet the changing needs of the industry.

“Shippers are demanding images and status updates immediately. To meet those requirements, carriers must implement solutions outside the framework of traditional dispatching systems,” EBE President Larry Kerr said.

The portal is appealing to carriers because office workers can use it without being familiar with a carrier’s transportation management system (TMS), and training only takes minutes. Plus, staff can work remotely without a virtual private network (VPN) or another advanced network connectivity.

“Many dispatching solutions require extensive network connectivity, which limits staff working remotely, and many interfaces require training to enter data properly. By utilizing an integrated mobile OCR solution, carriers can meet shippers’ demands with a less skilled labor force and provide the flexible work environment to attract needed labor,” Kerr explained.

EBE says an early adopter of SHIPS Mobile OCR is reporting billing an average of less than five minutes from delivery. In addition, their billing department has fewer team members, and their TMS knowledge workers are focused on trips that have exceptions. Ultimately, the SHIPSMobile OCR has allowed them to lower cost, improve billing speed and accuracy, and decrease driver turnover.

Employment Verification Process Streamlined through Direct Interface

EAST MOLINE, Ill., Dec. 9, 2020 – EBE, the leader in transportation-specific workflow applications, has announced it has partnered with Equifax Workforce Solutions to allow employment verification reports to be requested and returned directly through its SHIPS (Shipping and Hauling Image Processing System™) recruiting software.

Through the new integration, a candidate’s employment history records can be requested by employers with permissible purpose directly from The Work Number(R) database from Equifax through the SHIPS recruiting solution. The reports are then received, stored, and available in the candidate’s file within SHIPS. This automation replaces the manual process of logging in to The Work Number to request and receive the reports outside of SHIPS recruiting solution. The integration eliminates the additional steps and time required to import these documents in the candidate’s file.

The integration with The Work Number is another example of providing value to EBE clients, said Cindy Nelson, EBE vice president of recruiting and onboarding solutions. “EBE is committed to streamlining the process of recruiting and onboarding candidates as quickly and efficiently as possible while providing visibility to the most qualified and safe drivers. Employment history records are a critical factor in determining the quality and eligibility of candidates,” she said. “We are privileged to work with such a reputable organization to ensure that carriers have immediate access to the data necessary to make the most informed hiring decision.”

Melissa Stephan, recruiting director at Melton Truck Lines, Inc., a national trucking company based in Tulsa, Okla., said her team is more efficient with the new, integrated process. “Our background investigators run numerous Equifax reports each week. Now that the process is self-contained within the EBE system, they spend 75% less time on this task. They say it’s life changing.”

The Work Number integration is available now with EBE’s current SHIPS recruiting software.

Nov. 18, 2020

EAST MOLINE, Ill., Nov. 18, 2020 – EBE Technologies, the leader in business process management applications for the transportation industry, today announces the completion of its fiscal year 2020, ending September 30. A record year of growth was achieved as EBE realized an 11% increase in revenue from new client acquisitions and a 36% increase in additional purchases from existing clients.

In March 2020, Coronavirus brought uncertainty throughout the country and caused many companies to review their work processes. EBE’s solutions allowed carriers and their staff to adapt to mandates for a safer workplace while maintaining successful operations.

“This has been an unparalleled year for upheaval in the transportation industry. Some of our clients in specific industry segments were affected more than others, but the impact was universal,” said Larry Kerr, EBE president. “Our new client acquisitions were driven in part by carriers that could not utilize their legacy imaging solutions in work-from-home or mobile configurations.”

EBE developed a new application because of health concerns surrounding the pandemic. Its electronic bill of lading (e-BOL) solution allows for touch-free signatures, ensuring a higher level of safety for drivers and staff. The company also made enhancements to its artificial intelligence(AI) solution, Navigator. The enterprise-wide application automates repetitive tasks so carrier staff can focus on more strategic activities.

In year 2020, EBE’s existing clients saw the value in its range of solutions and purchased more applications to expand their paperless processes. The modules benefit the entire enterprise including: Accounts payable, invoice resolution, rate contract management, driver qualification (DQ) file management, driver on-boarding and mobile capture.

In first quarter, fiscal 2021, EBE plans to launch the latest version of its flagship solution, Shipping and Hauling Image Processing System, or SHIPS. The first release of SHIPS 6 will replace the current SHIPS recruiting, onboarding, and safety solution.

EBE’s managed services compliance company, InfoStream, added several thousand drivers under driver management and will unveil a new Risk Management Information System (RMIS) in first calendar quarter, 2021. InfoStream also expanded integrations into enterprise resource planning systems, including SAP, Oracle, and Workday. The new integrations streamline Department of Transportation-compliant applications, prefilling it with data and providing termination dates for DQ files.

EBE is positive about fiscal 2021, based on an anticipated economic recovery and the continuing need for content management systems that support a remote work force and reduced staffing levels.

EBE Technologies Reports Increased Revenue for Fiscal Year 2020

Revenues Increase as EBE Helps Companies Succeed Through Difficult Times

EAST MOLINE, Ill. - EBE Technologies, a leading provider of AI-driven, workflow-based solutions for the transportation industry, today announces strong results for the first half of fiscal year 2020. Despite an economic downturn due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the company has been fortunate to continue its positive growth pattern with an increase in new sales revenues of 64 percent to existing clients and a 15 percent increase in new client partnerships over fiscal year 2019.

Consistent with the state of the overall economy during the last few months, the transportation industry is facing challenges that are leading to reducing its workforce while attempting to operate as efficiently as possible. EBE’s AI workflow-based solutions are designed to offer a “work by exception” approach, so that companies can meet those objectives. The solutions are also designed to support a remote workforce to accommodate much of the country’s stay at home orders. The combination of these two scenarios has contributed to EBE’s mid-year results.

“EBE’s AI Engine, Navigator, with interoperability, has helped many companies realize the benefits of being able to do more with less. Even before the pandemic, our clients had seen the value of the solutions as they have gained efficiencies and improved profitability,” stated EBE CEO Larry Kerr. “Since companies are struggling today to impact their top line number, the focus has to be on identifying ways to improve the bottom line by implementing processes and solutions that manage costs. With our work Media Release by exception solutions, our clients are able to achieve interoperability amongst their critical systems, in order to improve their profitability,” adds Kerr.

Many of EBE’s solutions are designed to support the remote workforce. Remote capabilities to manage billing and settlements with mobile capture allow drivers to submit POD documents in near real time, which is enhancing the process and shortening the invoicing cycle. EBE’s Web-based onboarding, training and safety solutions eliminate the need for drivers to be onsite in order to get and stay on the road. While many of EBE’s carriers have achieved the benefits of these solutions prior to the pandemic, its new clients are experiencing the value and finding the adoption of these solutions as long-term strategies.

Forecasts for the second half of the year remain positive. EBE will continue to focus on developing and providing solutions to adapt to the current environment. Companies who are positioned to adapt quickly to change will be rewarded and EBE will continue to support the needs of those carriers.

SHIPS Navigator Operates as Middleware Between EBE Workflow and Process Management Solutions and Enterprise Transportation Systems

EAST MOLINE, IL - EBE Technologies, the leader in transportation-specific workflow and business process management applications for the transportation industry, today announced SHIPS Navigator, an artificial intelligence (AI) engine for process and content management.

The Navigator allows the sharing of documents and data across the enterprise to automate the repetitive tasks typically performed by human labor. Navigator reviews transactions to determine if they are within standards and can be completed, or if an exception is identified and needs to be reviewed manually. If the exception is an item the Navigator can correct, such as a status setting in dispatch, the Navigator corrects the error and allows the transaction to be completed. When a transaction cannot be corrected by the Navigator, it is placed in an exception workflow based on user rules and permissions.

“SHIPS Navigator is designed to handle the mundane, manual tasks that are typically performed by people in the organization’s front and back office,” says Larry Kerr, President of EBE Technologies. “The Navigator leverages EBE’s automated workflow technology and integrations with many of the leading dispatch, accounting, and mobile communication systems in the transportation industry to deliver interoperability among a transportation provider’s critical systems.”

The Navigator is most effective when EBE’s applications are used in conjunction with one another. Some examples include: providing indexing functions through the SHIPS Mobile application to improve billing cycle times, monitoring a carrier’s accounting system for out-of-standard transactions, communicating to drivers the need for updated safety documents, and creating complete and accurate driver qualification files in the applicant tracking and onboarding process.
